An important decision of the State Government is to provide permanent protection to all the teachers and staff of the subsidized secondary and higher secondary schools as redundant.

Education Minister Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said that the state government has taken an important decision to provide permanent protection to all the teachers and employees of the subsidized secondary and higher secondary schools in the state. From now on, any newly appointed subsidized secondary or higher secondary school teacher-employee will not face the question of losing a job due to class-school closure. Investing through mutual funds is quite cost-efficient. When you buy equity directly, you have to pay costs like brokerage and Securities Transaction Tax (STT). The larger the number of transactions, the higher your costs will be. Mutual funds have the benefit overlay investors in that they do bulk transactions and are hence able to enjoy economies of scale. They may, for example, be able to get lower brokerage rates, which benefits investors in mutual funds. A debt fund may be able to negotiate higher interest rates from debt issuers since they deal in large quantities.

The decision has been taken to ensure uniform recruitment process, TAT examination, qualification, pay scale and performance of teachers in the subsidized secondary and higher secondary schools.

One of the advantages of mutual funds is flexibility. You can either make a lump sum investment or put in small amounts over some time through a SIP (Systematic Investment Plan). Lumpsum investment works well if you have idle cash. We recommend investing through SIP because you can invest relatively lesser amounts (than lumpsum). Also, because of rupee cost averaging, the cost of acquiring mutual fund units can be lower. We’ve spoken at length about SIP basics in our earlier article.

As teachers appointed in subsidized secondary and higher secondary schools lose their jobs due to lack of surplus protection, such teachers are constantly working under the guise of insecurity, which may have a direct impact on the quality of teaching work. This decision will result in better quality and performance of education. The minister added that as a result of this decision, if a vacant teacher is appointed instead of re-appointing to fill the vacancy, the lengthy process of filling the vacancy will be avoided and the trained experienced teacher will be given the job and the schools will get experienced teachers quickly.
